Starla was born and raised in Columbiana, Alabama, where her extended family still lives. She and her husband Mark currently reside in Hoover and are proud parents to three young men; Greyson, Carson, and Anderson, and two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Penny and Rocky. Starla attends Hunter Street Baptist Church and volunteers in various areas of Hoover City Schools and with Hoover Soccer Club.

Starla briefly attended college, but ultimately decided that the workforce was for her. Prior to joining the Ultimate Edge team, Starla worked for Vulcan Engineering, COMSYS, SouthTrust Bank, and most recently a small private psychology practice. She considers her family her greatest accomplishment and feels very lucky to have such a loving husband and three remarkable sons.
